Lessons with Campbell
Guitar lessons with Campbell are designed to be personalized to each student with the goal of building strong musical proficiency while having as much fun as possible. Students will learn fundamental chords, scales, and technique, but more importantly they’ll learn habits that promote progress and creativity.
A key factor missing from so many lesson programs is a special attention to the ‘spark’ - the essential aspect of playing guitar that makes someone want to play more. My goal with every student is to help them find that spark and let it propel the learning process.
-
Technique varies between genres and individual players. Students will learn approaches to developing good technique for whatever style they choose to pursue.
-
Most of us begin by learning 'cowboy chords' otherwise known as open chords. This can be a good place to start, but it depends on the individual and their interests. There's a beautiful world of chords out there beyond the campfire, and exploring it can inspire students and deepen their learning experience.
-
Most guitarists love to rip a good solo. Learning to improvise and compose solos usually starts with learning fundamental scales and emulating great guitar solos from history. If this is your goal, you'll also learn to follow your ears and develop an intuition for expressing yourself around the fretboard.
-
Theory is sometimes thought to be the boring part of music. I believe that's because of how it's conventionally taught. The truth is that theory isn't just a list of letters and codes. It's more like the musical laws of physics; the science of how vibrations in the air can express human emotion. If presented in the right context, music theory can be downright fascinating.

Experienced Guitar Teacher
I’ve helped students from six to sixty learn and advance their guitar skills while finding their own personal style and having fun. My guitar teaching experience includes private lessons, group lessons, leading performance groups and running rock guitar camps. My teaching experience also includes ELA, Math and Workforce Development teaching and tutoring in the Fort Collins, CO and Fall River, MA school districts. While not teaching, I work on my own music, perform with my band and provide mixing and mastering services. In my personal time, I love surfing, snowboarding, climbing and mountain biking.
